I took my bachelor degree in Philosophy with a thesis in Philosphy of Language, I then took a Master degree in Logic at the University of Florence. I have always been interested in the IT world and attending to this Master allowed me to complement my theoretical formation with a pratical one. My main interest in Data Science is NLP.

Born in 1996 in Milan, Italy. My educational background was purely humanistic: I attended classical high school and later graduated in philosophy, first in a bachelor's degree and then in a master's degree. My main interests during my undergraduate years were in the areas of propositional logic, theory of knowledge and philosophy of science. In the research phase for my master's thesis, I had the opportunity to address the issues of the human mind-artificial intelligence relationship and how computational thinking works. This prompted me to approach the world of programming and the study of the latest technologies for extracting information from big data streams. The Master in Big Data Analytics and Social Mining has been a conceptually challenging course of study for me and has given me the opportunity to look into such an exciting and innovative field of work as data science.

I was born in 1996 in Genoa. I graduated in Philosophical Methodologies at the Università degli Studi di Genova and I have completed the excellence program offered by the Higher University of Genoa (IANUA). I started showing interest in Data Science during my master's degree, while I was doing my thesis in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in the field of Social Cognition in Human-Robot Interaction (S4HRI). My desire to broaden my knowledge and access new areas of investigation and methods of data analysis led me to undertake the master in Big Data & Social Mining.

I earned both my Bachelor and my Master in Philosophy at the University of Salerno. During my studies, my main area of interest has been comtemporary philosophy with a focus on the phenomenological movement, a tradition that has inspired me to always seek an interdisciplinary approach. In this spirit I chose to attend this Master, convinced not only by the importance of acquiring skills in the fields of management and analysis of data, but also by the philosophical relevance of many of the questions data science gives rise to. The lectures and the seminars held within the Master have strengthened my conviction showing the richness of the spectrum of disciplines and themes involved in working with data.

My name is Maria and I was born in Messina in 1995. I got my Bachelor's Degree in philosophy at the University of Bologna, and later I chose to deep into the philosophy of science, joining a Master's course in Philosophy of Information at Urbino. My studies made me aware of how the philosophical tools can be useful for analyzing and understanding the hard sciences, and specifically I am very passionate about the issues of the role of modern technology in scientific research. For this reason, I'm trying to sharpen my skills in reading and manipulating data, and therefore I enrolled in the SoBigData Master, that provided me with many useful tools and made me able to face myself with the practical aspects left behind my training so far.

I was born in Verona in 1991. After graduating in philosophy at the University of Padova, I decided to move to Utrecht (in the Netherlands) to enroll in a master’s degree in Applied Ethics. During my studies in digital ethics, I had the opportunity to discover the world of Big Data. Despite not having any technical knowledge, I was attracted by the multiple perspectives offered by this innovative field. For this reason, once I came back to Italy, I decided to enroll in the Master in Big Data Analytics and Social Mining at the University of Pisa.

Lo Sterzo Tommaso

Lo Sterzo

I graduated in philosophy in November 2018 at the University of Roma Tre with a thesis on the role of probability in the interpretation of Quantum Mechanics. My interests in philosophy have always been at the limits of the physical and mathematical sciences. In particular, I have been interested in probability theory, interpretation of physical theories, logic and philosophy of logic. After these years of studying philosophy, I decided to deepen the quantitative aspect of my interests. In particular, I have tried to build a good base of analysis and geometry and I have further deepened some aspects of mathematical logic. During this period I discovered the world of Big Data and Machine Learning and so I decided to enroll in the master offered by the University of Pisa, where I am learning its methods. The construction of predictive models and the use of other techniques learned are now my passion. My desire is to work in a company in the sector to deal with Data Science full time.

I majored in philosophy and I'm a PhD student at the University of Roma Tre and Roma Tor Vergata. I'm currently working on Isaac Newton's metaphysics and theological unpublished manuscripts. I approached the world of big data and data mining to satisfy my curiosity and to learn new things.

Gianmarco Giannelli

Giannelli

I was born in Molfetta (BA) in 1992. I went to the University of Padova where I majored in Philosophical science in 2015 (I also made a research period in Lyon, France) with a B.A. about the poetic metaphor and the scientific model, looking for some kind of connections between the two fields of research. While i was studying the theories about the knowledge possibilities of the human being, I began to analyze the contribution of the information technology in the comprehnesion of reality. I started the master in Big Data and Social Mining here in Pisa to face a new context for me because I think that the analysis of the datas will be soon a fundamental instrument to understand the reality.

I was born in Pisa, where I studied Philosophy at the University. I obtained the Master Degree in 2013 and I'm currently a Ph.d candidate at the University of Pisa and Florence. During my research periods abroad (Cologne, Paris) I had the occasion to improve my English, German and French. I choose the Master in Big Data Analysis and Social Mining to enrich my knowledge and skills.
