I earned a bachelor's degree in physics in Rome, with a specialization in statistical mechanics. During my master's degree I had the opportunity to delve into concepts such as Neural Networks, Stochastic Processes and Complex Systems, acquiring theoretical knowledge underlying many ML algorithms. Passionate about programming and quantitative analysis, I found in Data Science the meeting point between these two worlds, and I decided to enroll in this master in Big Data to follow my dream of working in this field. In my spare time, I like to go hiking in the mountains.

I graduated in Physics at the Sapienza University of Rome. During my dissertation I started to be interested in research activity with the study of economic and technological bipartite networks. Subsequently I have been employed as Solution Developer working on different projects. I then decided to enroll in the Master in Big Data Analytics & Social Mining due to my growing interest in the world of Machine Learning and Big Data.

I was born in 1994 in a small town between Naples and Salerno. My passion for Physics and Mathematics led me to obtain a master’s degree in Physics at University of Naples ‘Federico II’ in 2019. The thesis concerned the application of the physics of Complex Systems to chromosome 3D architecture. After the degree I won a scholarship in the USA for a three-month project about gravitational wave signals. When I came back, I got a job in the financial area, and I have spent one year working as Analyst at Deloitte in support of the Market Risk Office of Intesa Sanpaolo. The data drove me in all my experiences. So, to deepen the analysis of big data and learn how to use them to extract useful knowledge in different areas, from scientific to economic ones, I decided to attend the Big Data Analytics & Social Mining Master. After the Master I would like to work as a Data Scientist in R&D departments.

I graduated in Theoretical Physics at the University of Padova. In particular, I focused on the theoretical description of the so-called fundamental interactions, which are four "forces" which regulate all natural phenomena.
I am interested in Mathematics and Physics, as well as new technologies and how these modify society. Therefore, I decided to enroll in this course to develop the necessary skills to be an active part of the rapid changes occurring in our world, and to learn the tools to become a Data Scientist.

After obtaining the diploma of industrial expert in electronics and telecommunications, I enrolled at the Faculty of Physics in Pisa. I graduated in Matter Physics with an experimental thesis focused on the fabrication of two-dimensional devices. During my university years, I also participated with the U-PHOS team to the REXUS/BEXUS program that allows students of universities across Europe to carry out scientific and technological experiments on research rockets and balloons. I decided to enroll at the Master in Big Data Analytics & Social Mining because I am attracted by the possibility of inferring information from data to make predictions in scientific, social, and economic fields.

I am now enrolled in Nuovo Pignone (Baker & Hughes, a General Electric Company) as Test Data Analysis and Acquisition Engineer, operating in the R&D laboratory for the validation of new turbomachinery products and prototypes. My academic background is in Particle Physics. During my PhD within the CMS collaboration (CERN) I worked on data collected by the experiment to optimize the high level trigger tracking algorithms of the experiment and to perform statistical analysis to investigate about the presence of a high-mass Higgs boson. My one-year stay in CERN and in Geneva area is one of the most exciting experiences I had. https://www.linkedin.com/in/valentina-gori-8b077589/

Barbara Ranghetti

Ranghetti

Barbara Ranghetti is 26 years old and was born and raised in Bergamo. She attended the Faculty of Physics at the University of Milan-Bicocca, getting a bachelor's degree with an experimental thesis conducted at the university's radioactivity lab, in the field of environmental applied physics. She graduated cum Laude at the same university in November 2018, with a thesis entitled "Characterization of neutron fluxes through neutron spectroscopy measurements", conducted at the university's radioactivity laboratory and at the ENEA research center (Casaccia , Rome). During the master's degree she begins to take interest in Big Data and decides to continue her studies by attending the Master's program, to expand her computer skills applied to data analysis.

I was born in Grosseto in 1992. I got my B.Sc. in Physics and Advanced Technology at the University of Siena and my M.Sc. in Physics at the University of Pisa, where I attended some Medical Physics courses. Driven by curiosity about Data Science application in medicine, I decided to attend this Master because I would like to learn other application fields to broaden my work horizons.

Born in Macerata in 1987, he studied Theoretical Physics in Pisa and graduated in 2014. During his years of study, he was able to take part in the ethical and political issues of Big Data, especially those coming from social media. He worked for two years in an IT company (Advanced Computer Systems S.r.l.) on a software automation control project. In 2017 he enrolled in the Master in Big Data & Social Mining with the aim of obtaining more specific knowledge of the world of Data Science.
