Graduated in Business Administration from the University of Naples Federico II. After 2 years of professional experience in the field of Marketing and Project Management I wanted to acquire new skills in the Big Data sector in order to better understand what is at the basis of a Data Driven strategy. My training is focused on management. However, my various life experiences deriving from my passions for volunteering, social policies, sport and travel have enriched my profile and my skills in such a way that I can adapt to any context and situation.

Samantha Ajovalasit

Born in Palermo in 1987, she joined the faculty of economics at the University of Palermo for the three-year degree in Economics and Finance. In 2016 she was admitted to the Master of Science in Economics at University of Pisa, where she graduated in 2016 (110/110). She likes use computational software and as a statistical enthusiast she wants to pursue a career in data analytics for economic research purposes.

Nicolò Allegra

I was born in Sicily in 1994. Since I was a kid, I've always been strongly interested in maths. However, after getting my high-school diploma in a science-oriented institute, I moved to Bologna to follow another passion - that is, the study of history and political thought. A couple years later, in 2019, I obtained a master's degree in Global Studies at the history department of Bologna's Alma Mater.
After that, I traveled and worked abroad for one year, both in France and in Australia. When I got back home, I decided to enroll to the master to learn new skills that could help me fully realize my background and aspiratons.

Rebecca Ambrosini

Born and actually living in Lucca; Degree in Mathematics at the Pisa University. I work as analyst since 2003 by Agos Ducato SpA, a consumer credit company leader in Italy. I decided to apply for the Big Data Analytics’ Master to enrich my competences with new analysis technics developed on the market, for example on social networks or web text’s analysis, always in respect of ethics.

Davide Avella

Graduated masterful cum laude in “Business and Public Communication” at the University of Salerno with a thesis entitled “The private Internet. Intellectual property and the Internet governance”. The research focuses on new forms of power after global widespread of Internet. From 2011 to 2014, communication area responsible at the Observatory for Communication and Participation of Youth Cultures (OCPG). The principle activities are: press office, social media manager, content management of web sites, public relation and so on. President of “Progetti in Network”, a cultural association based in Salerno specialized in communication and cultural activities and conferences and seminars organization. Responsible for organizing secretary of “Eighth Annual Conference of the ESPAnet Italia”, network of italian and european social policies.

Elena Baccoli

After having completed my studies in humanities, with a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature and a master’s degree in Euro-American Languages and Philologies, I decided to start studying Big Data because I was fascinated with how the huge mass of information available nowadays can be used and analysed. I am confident that my linguistic background and my experience in the philological research will be an added value and a resource in the interpretation of the complexities and problems that this kind of analysis inevitably entails. I am particularly interested in neural networks and natural language processing, which I am hoping to further study in its various application, especially in conversational analysis. I have also experience with illustration and storytelling, so I am well aware of the opportunities that a well-structured narration has.

Costanza Balboni Cestelli

Constanza graduated with honors in International Development with a concentration in Quantitative Methods and Public Policy from the Institute for Development Policy and Management (PMID) at University of Manchester with a dissertation which, for the first time, proposes an econometric model to interpret transnational elite breeding strategies. She currently works for a Big Four, in Business Performance Services. Previously, she took part in international missions of the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, living in China and Brazil. In 2013 she founded The Italians, a policy analysis think tank composed of young Italian researchers and professionals living abroad. The think tank has connected more than 35 members and produced two original policy researches, raising public awareness about the brain drain phenomenon. Her project has been recently featured in Radio24 and Donna Europa Young Talents sections.

Clara Banti

Graduated in Public Relations (now called Business Communication), I was lucky enough to find myself in the world of digital agencies. Here, after a few years in the press office where I had to understand (and tell laymans) how the websites development projects and digital marketing plans worked, I moved on and started being in charge of the consultancy for clients’ digital marketing program definition and the management of development projects. It was the world of performance and optimization, the time for results to constantly track in e-commerce and the era of CRM customizations. All this could effectively happen only when a correct collection and manipulation of data is done. That’s why my interests shifted from marketing to data. Areas of interest for me in data analysis are market research, users’ behaviors analysis, platform performance analysis (not just e-commerce) and how to make data useful knowledge.

Simona Barba

I was born in Naples in 1995 and in 2017 I earned my Bachelor Degree in Mathematics with a thesis in Algebra at the University of Naples Federico II. There I attended Mathematics Master's Degree Program choosing an application-oriented path and I earned my Master's Degree in Mathematics with a thesis about the mathematical modeling of a viral infection on microscopic level.
I have always been passionate about science and technology and during my studies I realised the importance of Data Analysis in a wide range of applications. This is why I decided to deepen my knowledge attending the Master in Big Data Analytics & Social Mining.

Marco Barchitta

After I graduated in electronic engineering in 2010, I started working as an EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) laboratory technician in a small company. Then I moved to a Multinational (Electrolux Professional). Unfortunately, after 1 year only, I decided to change again, as my expectations were not met. So, I started working at u-blox, a telecommunication company based in Switzerland, where I’ve worked for 3 years and a half as a member of the certification team. In march 2017, I achieved the PMP (Project Management Professional). The last work experience was abroad, in Netherlands, where I’ve worked for 2 years and a half as a regulatory affairs specialist at LG Electronics. After 10 years of work experience, I decided to put myself on the line and I enrolled in this master to become a data scientist. The main reason is that I was fascinated by the new information technologies related to artificial intelligence, then my curiosity and the desire to learn new things did the rest.

Lorenzo Basile

I was born in Catania in 1992. After getting a scientific diploma I moved to Padova to obtain a bachelor degree title in Statistics, Economy and Finance with a thesis on the debt crisis in Europe and the effect of austerity policies. Then I moved to Bologna University where i got my Master Degree in Statistical, Financial and Actuarial Science with a thesis on the impact of Non-financial information on the share value of quoted firms. Starting from my last year of master degree studies, I had the opportunity to get some job experience by working on the fields of both credit risk modeling and actuarial science. I decided to enroll on the Big Data Analytics Master to develop my knowledge of the latest data analysis techniques and to be able to use them in a varius field of application.

Ruben Bassani

Born in Bassano del Grappa (Vi) on 15.02.1985. After the Master’s degree in Sociology (economic and labor sociology, sociology of organizations) at the University of Padua, obtained with honors in 2010, he was involved in qualitative and quantitative research, collaborating with different organizations. Salvatore Bellomo

Graduate of Computer Engineering at the University of Pisa where obtained both my Bachelor and Master’s degrees, and spent a year living and working in London as a Software Development Engineer. Joined the Research National Team of Pisa’s Social Sensing project in which the research activities deal with social media analysis e social media mining, social sensing, knowledge discovery, web mining e computational social science. Antonio Bencini Farina

Works as a researcher/consultant for market research and online data collection companies. Based in London from 2011 to 2014. Freelance producer, director and screenwriter with seven years of experience producing web video content. He won the Audience Favorite Award at the 2012 General Electric - Focus Forward Competition with a short documentary about the bionic hand developed by Scuola Sant’Anna of Pisa. MA in Philosophy (University of Pisa). MA thesis on logic of natural language. He has been an Erasmus student at Johannes Gutenberg Universitaet of Mainz (Germany) during the A.A. 2003/2004. Barbara Berti

Barbara Berti received a PhD in English Linguistics from the University of Milan with a thesis concerning the presence and the treatment of lexical collocations in bilingual dictionaries. She currently works as a researcher at the State University of Milan, where she teaches English Phonology, Morphology, Phraseology, Lexis, Semantics as well as Corpus Linguistics. Her main research interests are collocations in corpus linguistics, critical lexicography and computational lexicography.

Domenico Matteo Bianco

He was born in Padua (Italy) in 1992. He obtained his master’s degree with honors in physics at the University of Padua in 2016. He wrote a theoretical thesis on cosmic inflation. In particular, he studied the observable predictions, i.e. the statistical properties of the Cosmic Microwave Background, of some inflationary models recently proposed in the context of supergravity theories. He has always been interested in mathematics and computer science and, during the years spent at university, he has discovered the promising profession of data scientist. Anastasia Bogomolova

I graduated in 2010 at the Ural Federal University of Ekaterinburg, Russia as Nuclear Engineer, with a specialization in Radiation Protection of Human and Environment. In my third year at university I became interested in economic disciplines, so I undergraduated in Economics and Business Administration, in parallel with the main course. After the graduation I started to work for the Russian federal enterprise «Rosatom», which is responsible for the whole cycle of treating and accounting radioactive waste. As an engineer of management and control, I was responsible for collecting data for the Russian Federation database of radioactive waste, with further use of these datasets for analysis and statistical studies.

Gabriele Bonamini

Born in Piombino (LI) January 21 1958. Married, with three children. Graduated July 12 1982 in Forestry Sciences at the faculty of Agriculture, Florence. Freelance Wood Technologist, since 1982 works as consultant in the fields of the industrial uses of wood, of R&D of wood-based products, and of the conservation of wooden artworks and structures belonging to the Cultural Heritage. Over 70 publications, including reference books, articles and presentations at national and international conferences. 

Luisa Bonanome

Luisa Bonanome is 27 years old, she was born in Rome and, in 2016, she graduated in "Psychology applied to the contexts of health, labor and legal law" at the University La Sapienza of Rome. After completing her studies, she undertook a compulsory post-graduate internship at Culture srl: a research and communication company founded by Dr. Felicia Pelagalli, an expert in human digital transformation, data analysis and business consulting. Stimulated by this experience, she has decided to continue in this area by enrolling in the Master, to direct her professional skills in data analysis and to be introduced to those new approaches and tools that are proving fundamental to encourage changings towards, what is today called, a Data Driven culture.

Eduardo Bondielli

I graduated in Banking, corporate finance and financial markets at the Faculty of Economics and Management of Pisa. During my studies I get passionate about the use of computer science in the economic-financial field. I therefore begin to study and use the programming languages Python and R, as well as to approach the topic Data Science. I decided to enroll in the master to deepen my knowledge and acquire new skills, fascinated by the great opportunities that derive from the analysis of Big Data and their use in my field of study.

Samuele Borgheresi

Born at Montevarchi (AR) on 16/07/1986. He obtained a Master's Degree in Philosophical Sciences in 2014 at the University of Florence. Always passionate about technology and computers, he decided to enroll in the Big Data Master to develop his curriculum towards a quantitative direction and to gain strong practical skills in the Data Science field. Alice Borselli

I attended the University of Pisa and got the master's degree in Mathematics in 2009. I was a PhD fellow at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa on "Innovative Technologies of ICT and Robotics" for one and a half years. During the PhD I attended some programming courses and I finally found a job as software developer in Pisa. Recently I started to get involved in data analysis and machine learning, so I decided to enroll in the Big Data Analytics and Social Mining Master.

Davide Bottinelli

Born in 1996 in Milan, Italy. My educational background was purely humanistic: I attended classical high school and later graduated in philosophy, first in a bachelor's degree and then in a master's degree. My main interests during my undergraduate years were in the areas of propositional logic, theory of knowledge and philosophy of science. In the research phase for my master's thesis, I had the opportunity to address the issues of the human mind-artificial intelligence relationship and how computational thinking works. This prompted me to approach the world of programming and the study of the latest technologies for extracting information from big data streams. The Master in Big Data Analytics and Social Mining has been a conceptually challenging course of study for me and has given me the opportunity to look into such an exciting and innovative field of work as data science.

Riccardo Bufalini

I was born in Firenze in 1993. I obtained a master's degree in Medical-pharmaceutical biotechnology with a thesis in the field of Transcriptomics. My passion for bioinformatics has been the trigger to enroll the Master for acquire new informatic skills to analyze Big Data. I firmly believe that Data Science is the career of the future in an ever-changing world.

Luca Buoni

After obtaining the diploma of industrial expert in electronics and telecommunications, I enrolled at the Faculty of Physics in Pisa. I graduated in Matter Physics with an experimental thesis focused on the fabrication of two-dimensional devices. During my university years, I also participated with the U-PHOS team to the REXUS/BEXUS program that allows students of universities across Europe to carry out scientific and technological experiments on research rockets and balloons. I decided to enroll at the Master in Big Data Analytics & Social Mining because I am attracted by the possibility of inferring information from data to make predictions in scientific, social, and economic fields.

Valentino Calcagno

In March 2017, I graduated from "La Sapienza" University of Rome with a master's degree in sociology discussing a thesis on the topic of representation of work among young people in Rome. In the same year, through an internship at the CNR, I partecipated in a research about the construction of the image of migrants in online newspapers and textbooks. The interest in the understanding of social dynamics led me to decide to expand my knowledge with the master in Big Data Analytics and Social Mining. I believe that the application of techniques and models deriving from data science can highlight further and new aspects in the study of social phenomena to grasp their contradictions and their problems.

Renza Campagni

Renza Campagni was born in Florence on 04/10/1962. She is a technician of data processing at the University of Florence, Department of Statistics, Computer Science, Applications. He holds a degree in mathematics in 1988 with the thesis Join algorithms based on Hash functions and a Ph.D. in Computer Science, research area Data Mining, in 2013 at the University of Florence. She is been a system engineer at Ing. C. Olivetti S.p.A. from october 1988 to 1999/06/30, then employee of the University of Florence in CSIAF (Center of IT Services at University of Florence) from 1999/07/01 to 2012/12/31, then at DiSIA (Department of Statistics, Computer Science, Applications), as a data processing technician. She currently has positions in support of research (area of Data Mining) and in teaching at DiSIA for degree courses of Statistics and Computer Science.

Daniele Campisano

A native of Rome, I completed my master's degree in Economics (Quantitative Finance) in 2016, at University of Rome “Tor Vergata". My graduate thesis focused on gap risk measure for a portfolio covered by a CPPI strategy. After graduating, I worked as a business consultant for a software house for a year, but I understood that, given my inclination for IT and the increasing importance big data have in our world, I wanted to pursue a career in data science. This led me to the University of Pisa's Big Data Analytics course, in order to acquire necessary skills and knowledge in the data analysis field, something I consider as a natural extension of my past quantitative studies.

Francesco Cappellini

I was born in Tuscany in 1995. I graduated bachelor in law of enterprises (firms) and i graduated master in communication of enterprise (also deeply focused on HR development). Because of my deep interest in AI and in big data, i enrolled in "big data analytics and social mining" in order to improve my skills and also to widen my knowledge. I think that this is an excellent opportunity for me for my professional growth.

Eleonora Cappuccio

I was born in Pisa, I studied Communication Design at Politecnico (Milano) and in Toronto, Canada. In my Master's thesis, developed inside the DensityDesign research lab, I explored user-generated data visualizations on Wikipedia. I briefly worked in Hamburg as a data visualization designer.

Stefano Caprasecca

I was born in Rome but have been living in Florence for many years. I have a MSc in theoretical and computational Chemistry (Rome) and a PhD in Physics (UK). I am a research fellow at the Dept. of Chemistry at the University of Pisa, where I study the physical processes taking place in photosynthesis, using computational models. I have authored 25 scientific articles and have developed and implemented models of computational Chemistry. Lately I have got into Machine Learning, which I am currently employing to predict chemical properties of molecules.

Marco Cardinaletti

Francesca Silvia Carosio

Curious and goal-oriented Sociologist and Project manager Professional, I have more than 15 years of experience in design, management and evaluation of projects financed by local, national or EU funds, devising creative strategic solutions to problems. I also dedicated more than five years to monitoring and evaluation projects where I improved my skills in Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis. Isabel Carrozzo

I was born in 1996 in Genoa. I graduated in Philosophical Methodologies at the Università degli Studi di Genova and I have completed the excellence program offered by the Higher University of Genoa (IANUA). I started showing interest in Data Science during my master's degree, while I was doing my thesis in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in the field of Social Cognition in Human-Robot Interaction (S4HRI). My desire to broaden my knowledge and access new areas of investigation and methods of data analysis led me to undertake the master in Big Data & Social Mining.

Marta Carvelli

I have graduated in Mathematics at University of Pisa with a thesis in Computer Algebra. After a short teaching experience, I have attended a course in Digital Advertising where the interest about Big Data started from. I have decided then to attend the master in order to increase the knowledge about Big Data e to see some applications of the arguments studied previously.

Filippo Cassano

I was born in Perugia in 1993. For my university studies I moved to Rimini, where I graduated from a Master’s degree in Service Management provided by the University of Bologna. Between 2017 and 2018, I worked for a digital marketing agency. The need to build effective reports and strategies gave me the opportunity to put in practice the analytical skills acquired during my studies, to gain new ones and, above all, to grasp the potential of the enormous quantity of data we can find nowadays. I enrolled for the Master’s degree in Big Data Analytics & Social Mining to start learning those tools and methods that allow data scientists to successfully face Big Data challenges.

Leonardo Catalano

I took my bachelor degree in Philosophy with a thesis in Philosphy of Language, I then took a Master degree in Logic at the University of Florence. I have always been interested in the IT world and attending to this Master allowed me to complement my theoretical formation with a pratical one. My main interest in Data Science is NLP.

Marta Catalano

Marta received her Master degree in Mathematics from the Sapienza University of Rome in 2015. After a Master Thesis in Knot theory, her interests gradually moved towards Machine Learning and Data Science. She would be interested in pursuing her studies both in Computer Science and Statistics.

Luca Cavargini

Driven by great passion, I enjoy working on projects which require data analysis to support business decisions.
I decided to enroll in the master's program, fascinated by the great opportunities emerging from Data Analytics tools.
After graduation, I had the chance to work in consulting services in the financial industry (experience: 1.5 yrs), in particular in Corporate Finance transactions, Financial Reporting (i.e. IFRS 17 Transition Project) and Fintech credit brokerage.
As a business economics student I worked on a thesis project on the topic of agency costs between management and shareholders, analyzing the relationship between the structure of managers' compensation and the tendency to short termism in investment choices.

Matteo Centonze

Born in Aosta in 1991, in 2015 he obtained a Master’s Degree in Physics of Complex Systems at the Univerisity of Turin. He developed a thesis in computational biology, studying the distribution of some functional genomic elements along the human genome. Shortly after the graduation, he started working as a patent analyst at the Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa, where he could gain experience in areas like the patentability of inventions, intellectual property and technology transfer. He decided to attend the Master in Big Data Analytics & Social Mining to reinforce and improve his knowledge in the fields of computer science and data analysis.

Carlo Ceriotti

Born in Busto Arsizio(VA) in 1988, I earned a Master degree in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. I spent 6 months in Boston(MA) where I developed my master thesis about novel skin conductance algorithms at MIT, Harvard Medical School (MGH). Then I worked as research fellow at CNR (National Research Council) in Lecco where we developed sensorized orthosis particularly by designing electronic circuits, studying SMA (Shape memory alloys) and their applications as well as using machine Learning techniques to accelerometers data coming from clinical trials on stroke patients’ arms. Since my first experience with Machine Learning and Data Mining, I fell in love with it, acquiring self taught basic ML and Data Mining skills and web languages, directing my career towards this amazing path.

Alessandro Ciocchetti

Hello! I was born in Urbino in 1995 and I have lived in Pesaro until I started my University studies in Industrial Engineering and Management in Bologna. I love blues, rock, jazz, classical music, I am a good harmonica player, I love a lot of books and movies. Then, since I like arts, I like also programming. I believe Art can be expressed today through cinema and IT... sadly, literature and music already had their times and it's always more difficult to create something new there. I know it's a strange idea, but I am also sure we can't have a future without arts. We are just moving and adapting towards something new and more potentially "discoverable". Maybe in the next centuries humanity will recognize some great IT developers/digital designers/ideators of these times as great artists!

Antonio Coiro

I obtained both my Bachelor's and Master's degree at the University of Siena (2012), and completed a PhD in Comparative Literature at the University of Pisa (2017). During my PhD, I have been visiting student at Universidad de Lisboa (2015) and at CUNY in New York (2016). Then, I obtained a position as Research Fellow at the University of Pisa (2017) and as Adjunct Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Turin (2018-19). In recent years, I have started exploring issues in digital humanities. I believe that the changes generated by the digital revolution require the presence of scholars and professionals who know how to combine a scientific and IT preparation with a background in humanities

Andrea Cominotto

Born in Pisa, I graduated in Economics and Commerce and later in Marketing and Market Research at the University of Pisa, with experimental thesis on happiness induced in consumers by the acquisition of material and experiential goods. My studies have stimulated an interest in consumer behavior, CRM and business performance analysis in marketing campaigns. I am also interested in the areas of Data Visualization and Machine Learning, which I consider very useful to add to my knowledge. The master in Big Data offers me a wide range of tools to increase my skills, as well as fundamental notions of computer science and programming.

Alfonso Corrado

I was born in 1994 in a small town between Naples and Salerno. My passion for Physics and Mathematics led me to obtain a master’s degree in Physics at University of Naples ‘Federico II’ in 2019. The thesis concerned the application of the physics of Complex Systems to chromosome 3D architecture. After the degree I won a scholarship in the USA for a three-month project about gravitational wave signals. When I came back, I got a job in the financial area, and I have spent one year working as Analyst at Deloitte in support of the Market Risk Office of Intesa Sanpaolo. The data drove me in all my experiences. So, to deepen the analysis of big data and learn how to use them to extract useful knowledge in different areas, from scientific to economic ones, I decided to attend the Big Data Analytics & Social Mining Master. After the Master I would like to work as a Data Scientist in R&D departments.

Maria Luisa Costa

Born in Trapani in 1987, when I attendend High Schools The passion to data was born and so I attended a the degree course in Statistics for Data Analysis at the University of Palermo. I continued my training with a master's degree in Statistical Sciences in 2015. After a short break in which I started a restaurant business, I decided to resume my studies by attending a Master in Big Data Analytics which allowed me to look back at data analysis and to improve my computer skills.

Luca Costanzo

My name is Luca Costanzo and I live in Prato. I have earned a master's degree in Matter Physics from University of Florence and then a PhD at the European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy (LENS). Currently I'm a post-doc at the National Institute of Optics (INO-CNR).

Stefano Cresci

Stefano received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Engineering from the University of Pisa respectively in 2007 and 2013. Currently he is a PhD Student at the Information Engineering School of the University of Pisa and a Research Fellow at the Institute of Informatics and Telematics (IIT) of the National Research Council (CNR) in Pisa, Italy. His professional experiences encompass collaborations with ISTI-CNR, IIT-CNR, the LARTTE Laboratory of the Scuola Nornale Superiore (SNS) of Pisa and the WEVO startup. His interests include: social media analysis and mining, social sensing, knowledge discovery, web mining and computational social science.

Cosimo Curiale

In July of 2014 he obtained a Master's Degree in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Florence with 110/110 cum Laude.He plays a thesis on the study of the molecular mechanisms involved in the process of carcinogenesis of colorectal cancer (familial adenomatous polyposis) analyzing the gene expression profile of transgenic rats used as a study model. While at university, he follows a training course at the Biophysics Laboratory of the Department of Biochemistry where he continued his studies on protein folding mechanisms, structural analysis of proteins and protein - protein interaction systems. A training very focused in the laboratory practice allows him to use various bioinformatics and biophysical techniques oriented on Big Data analysis (e.g. DNA - microarray, confocal microscopy), here comes his interest in the study of the Big Data .

Giovanni Cusumano

I am a philologist and translator of East Asian Languages (Japanese and Chinese), my are of interest is of course Natural Language Processing.
My higher education begun back in 2014, when I started my BA in Language culture and society of Asia and Mediterranean Africa at Ca'Foscari university of Venice. During my last year at Ca'Foscari, I was bestowed with the Monbukagakushō scholarship by the Japanese government, which allowed me to spend one year at Osaka University; there, I continued my research on pre-modern Japanese Literature. Finally, in 2019 I completed an MA in Japanese literature at SOAS University of London.
I started teaching myself Python programming and Data Science at the beginning of the pandemic and I immediatly fell in love with transformer NN and other language models, with their ability to solve natural language understanding and translation tasks. This is what convinced me to pursue a career in Data Science.

Alessandro D'Elia

I graduated from Law University. I am passionate about sports, travels and new technologies. I am a consultant in Privacy Law, in particular for enterprises active in the field of organised large-scale distribution, e-commerce and ICT. I decided to enrol for the Master in Big Data Analytics & Social Mining to acquire technical-scientific knowledge for the management and analysis of data, motivated by personal curiosity and desire for professional improvement. Marco Da Campo

Marco Da Campo received the Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering, biomedical address, from the University of Florence on November 2012, with a thesis on "Functional brain connectivity via MRI: measuring integration, segregation and centrality". On 2014 received the post Laurea degree Master in business administration and management from the Univiersity of Pisa, with a thesis on "Biopharmaceutical outsourcing". He is interested in Data Analysis.

Paola Dadone

Born in the province of Cuneo in 1985, after a linguistic A levels she obtained a bachelor's degree in Development and Cooperation (Political Science) and a master's degree in Institutional, environmental and regional economics (Economics) from the University of Turin; she spent the last year of her master's degree at the French University of Paris XII Val de Marne. She currently works as a researcher at Liguria Ricerche S.p.A., an in-house company of the Ligurian Regional Government. In particular, she deals with research activities on the state and trends of the ligurian economy and society, supporting the general and sector planning of the regional government. She identified the master as a tool for expanding his skills in the field of data analysis and communication, as well as an interdisciplinary path suitable to satisfy her curiosity about ICTs and their social implications.

Marco Danzo

Born in province of Vicenza on the 04/25/1988. He moved to Padova, where he graduated in in Business and Administration (bachelor degree), then to Venice where he obtained the master degree in Economics and Finance with the top grade and a dissertation about crowdfunding in Italy. During that period, he had the opportunity to spend an academic year at ICMA Center in Berkshire (UK). After the studies, he joined a consultancy firm operating on company’s evaluation, market analysis and business planning. During that time, he worked also with start-ups and this has increased his interest on innovation. He discovered the phenomenon of big data and he started to be interested in it, especially for what regards production activities and business prevision and planning.

Massimiliano Davì

After graduating in philosophy of knowledge and communication, Massimiliano obtained a doctoral degree in Philosophy from the University Paris 1 Phanthéon Sorbonne and the University of Palermo with his research on Wittgenstein's logic and grammar of ordinary language. Thereafter he decided, as a computer enthusiast, he thereafter enrolled in a post- graduate Master on Big Data, driven by his interest in Machine Learning, Sentiment Analysis and Opinion Mining. 

Giuseppe De Maio

Graduated masterful in in "Biomedical Engineering" with 110/110 at the University of Florence with a thesis entitled “FEM analysis and experimental validation of rapid expander for orthodontics”. The research focuses on structural analysis of biomedical devices, through the use of methods of numerical simulation of three-dimensional models. The knowledge of finite elements was strengthened by work done in the office of design at the company Leone S.p.A. in Florence as an FEM analyst. The passion for programming comes durations collaboration to L.I.A.B. (Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Biomedical Acoustics) of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of the University of Florence for a project Spectral analysis of infant crying in MatLab and C environment.

Giulia De Poli

I earned my masters degree in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Padua with a thesis completed in the research laboratories of Philips in Eindhoven based on self-learning algorithms for detection of electrical appliances. I started to be interested in data mining and data analysis, after a year working in Italy as software developer, I moved to Dublin. There I worked for three years in a start-up specialized in energy consumption analysis, performing various roles from the design of new algorithms to software development, including working in several European projects. Hence the interest in this master, to deepen my knowledge in data analysis and integrate it with my personal interest in social issues.

Yuri De Rosa

I was born in Portoferraio in 1992. For my studies I decided to move to Pisa where I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Economics and my Master’s degree in Banking, Corporate Finance and Financial Markets. During my studies I began learning MATLAB and R and I discovered the opportunity of using different software for data analysis. I’m interested in Data Science and its application to economics and the field of finance. Francesco Demo

I'm Francesco Demo, I'm 26 and I'm from Veneto. I have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master's degree in Management, both from the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. I worked for a strategic consulting firm in Milan, developing projects with one of the main Italian banking groups. In this context, I began to discover the world of the data analysis and the data science and, therefore, I began to look for information about it. I decided to enrol in this master to shift my career path to one of the professions that will be increasingly in demand in the coming years and to differentiate myself from most common economics students with regards to hard skills. Fabio Deon

He graduated (cum laude) in Physics at the Universiy of Pisa in 2006, with a thesis on the optical probing of the collective excitations of electrons confined in semiconductor heterostructures. Both during his PhD at Scuola Normale Superiore (2007-2011) and as a post doc at the University of Geneva (2011-2014), he worked in the domains of experimental condensed matter physics and nanoscience. More specifically, his research focused on the electronic properties of semiconductor and graphene nanostructures, and particularly on phenomena related to single-electron transport, the superconducting proximity effect and electronic quantum interference.

Oscar Dinarelli

Oscar earned Master degree in experimental psychology at the Florence University in 2015, his thesis work was presented in the poster session of the IMRF (International Multisensory Research Forum) 2015. An old and strong passion for the Open source universe directs his interest towards technology and programming, in addition both this passion and his background led him to look at technology from  a human-centered perspective.

Daniele Fadda

Daniele Fadda, born in Milan on 10.05.81. He graduated at Density Design LAB at the School of Design - Politecnico di Milano. He is now a freelance designer coordinating projects about promotion and territorial storytelling for the municipality of Pisa and Città della Pieve (PG). He worked on the visual representation of complex systems, data visualization, especially regarding the transport infrastructures and he collaborated with several architects as communication consultant. I have a multidisciplinary work and educational background. I received my master's degree in Management, with a specialization in quantitative methods for business management, from the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Tommaso Ferrari Aggradi

Tommaso Ferrari Aggradi graduates in Marketing in Florence in 2012 with a thesis on new business models applied to the Net, arisen thanks to the development of a participatory web, with a focus on the topic of crowdsourcing. During his studies he begins a series of work experience that will lead him to know different business realities, by industry sector, size and corporate culture. He deals with institutional marketing and product communication for a Web Agency of Florence. He do a brief experience as Junior Export Manager in a historic crafted shoe factory in the heart of Tuscany. Michele Ferrucci

Born in Jesi, Marche, Italy, in 1989. After attending “Liceo Scientifico” as high school, I got a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at “Università Politecnica delle Marche” and finally a Master Degree in Statistics at University of Siena, cum laude. I am Roberta, originally from a small town in the province of Avellino, which I soon left for University studies. I have a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics, a Master's in Digital Humanities and anpther Master's in Film Editing, achieved in the UK. My dream, in fact, was to work in the Film Industry as an editor. However, I realized that reaching that goal meant giving up meaningful relationships, besides a healthy and balanced life. Luca Fusar Imperatore

I was born in Lodi in 1985. Always curious about the possible connections between different fields of knowledge, I pursued my studies first in Management for Arts & Culture, then in Economic and Social Sciences, both at Bocconi University in Milan. Later, throughout nine years of work within the retail department of a major oil company, my analytical inclination and flexibility found application in a vast array of tasks ranging from preparing dossiers for government authorities to building what-if models in Excel. At the same time, living in Rome enabled me to satisfy my penchant for arts & history, lately also as an amateur volunteer guide. Over time, I have discovered a growing interest in data management and the IT world broadly intended. As a consequence, I finally decided to enroll in the ”SoBigData” Master’s course, with the aim of broadening my horizons and upgrading my skills in the face of the increasing complexity of our age.

Noemi Gabrieli

After completing a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Pisa, I worked as an R&D Engineer in a biomedical company-university spin-off contributing to the European Horizon2020 Endoo-EU project. Ilenia Galluccio

I graduated in Archaeological Heritage at the University of Naples "L'Orientale" and continued my studies at the University of Pisa, obtaining in 2015 the Master's Degree in Archeology. During my academic career, I had two internship experiences in Sofia (Bulgaria) and Nicosia (Cyprus), where I had the opportunity to work in museums and research centers. Maurizio Gazzarri

He was born in Volterra in 1971. In 1990 he moved to Pisa where he graduated in Computer Science. From 2008 to 2018 he was Head of the Mayor of Pisa’s office, and took care of the digitalization of public services, communication, participation, and coordination of innovative projects. He believes that the strategic choices for improving the quality of life of citizens should be based on reliable predictive analysis of the consequences, and be assessable in real time. His participation in the Master's Degree goes in this direction: trying to connect the Public Administration, and the companies that have relations with it, with the world of tools and solutions connected to Big Data. I am an IT engineer, I obtained a master degree at "Università degli studi di Firenze". My graduation thesis is on biomedical technologies. I began my career as a freelance but since 2005 I have been working in the public administration, first at ARPAT (Agenzia Regionale per la Protezione dell’Ambiente della Toscana), then at ESTAR (Ente di Supporto Tecnico-Amministrativo Regionale) in the ICT sector. Mauro Mario Gentile

Trilingual engineer, graduated with academic honours, in possession of an MBA from IESE Business School and a 10+ years of international professional experience as strategic consultant, project manager and entrepreneur. I was born in Molfetta (BA) in 1992. I went to the University of Padova where I majored in Philosophical science in 2015 (I also made a research period in Lyon, France) with a B.A. about the poetic metaphor and the scientific model, looking for some kind of connections between the two fields of research. While i was studying the theories about the knowledge possibilities of the human being, I began to analyze the contribution of the information technology in the comprehnesion of reality. Born in Macerata in 1987, he studied Theoretical Physics in Pisa and graduated in 2014. During his years of study, he was able to take part in the ethical and political issues of Big Data, especially those coming from social media. Born in Messina, Italy, in 06/11/1984, Francesco Giglio is graduated in ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Engineering (LM-27) at the Mediterranea University (2014). From march 2012 is actuator of the project Social Innovation PON04a3_00227 and member of board of directions;  during 2014 he becomes consult as Processing System Specialist inside the Cloud Medical Solution. Dr. Francesco Giglio, in 2015, obtains the certification as Project Manager (n. 4614) from ISIPM; in 2010 the qualification as photovoltaic system installer and designer from IRAPS and during the same year he was qualified at the rule of insurance adjuster (art. 157 del DLgs 7/09/2005 n.209). In 2008 he obtains the ECDL certification from AICA and the Cisco CCNA certification at the Messina University. Italian is his first language, the second one is English and The City&Giuld certificated a B1 level. He has a flair for problem solving (bottom-up) and project planning. His hobbies are chess, mountain bike and sailing.

Alice Giorgio

Alice Giorgio was born in Potenza in 1987 and obtained a Master of Science Degree in Economics and Management of Public Administration and International Institutions (Bocconi University, 2012) with a thesis entitled “The natural resource curse: empirical analysis of Basilicata case”. During her formation, she studied public management and strategy, analysis of industrial and local development policies, policy evaluation and project management. Prior to joining Enrico Mattei Eni Foundation (FEEM) in June 2012, she experienced an internship at the “United Nations Joint Programme for Youth Employment and Migration” in Tirana, Albania. During this experience she also participated in the organization of training programs supporting Albanian top public management bodies in the introduction of data and data analysis into policy processes. Guglielmo Giorni

My name is Guglielmo Giomi, I come from Tuscany and I am an interdisciplinary designer and researcher. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Communication Design from the Politecnico di Milano and a Master in Photography & Society from the Royal Academy of Arts The Hague (Netherlands).

Valentina Gori

I am now enrolled in Nuovo Pignone (Baker & Hughes, a General Electric Company) as Test Data Analysis and Acquisition Engineer, operating in the R&D laboratory for the validation of new turbomachinery products and prototypes. My academic background is in Particle Physics. During my PhD within the CMS collaboration (CERN) I worked on data collected by the experiment to optimize the high level trigger tracking algorithms of the experiment and to perform statistical analysis to investigate about the presence of a high-mass Higgs boson. Verdiana Granata

Born in the province of Messina in 1987, she obtained a bachelor degree in Energy Engineering at the University of Palermo and a Master degree in Energy and Nuclear Engineering at the University of Bologna with a thesis on the characterization of nanofluids for the use in power transformers. In January 2018 she founded, with two of her best friends, AMV Idealab, the first innovative startup in the province of Messina that looks at smart cities and, through BOT technology, intends to promote the "smart" development of the territory. In this direction, since 2015, she is involved with the Association Smart Gioiosa.

Francesco Grisolia

I studied at the University of Siena (BA, MPhil), where I also received my PhD in Cultural Anthropology in 2012. Between 2007 and 2013 I carried out three fieldwork periods (in total seventeen months) in Nicosia (Cyprus). This experience allowed me to start my collaboration with Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso, a think tank I have been working for as a correspondent since 2011. From 2013 to February 2017 I worked at the University of Catanzaro as a postdoc fellow in sociology of health and adjunct professor of social and medical anthropology. I spent part of my postdoc at the University of Oxford (Department of Social Policy and Intervention). My interest for the analysis of big data and the decision to apply for this master grew out of my persuasion that we can properly understand and operate within our societies only if we face and make the most of the digital dimension of our existence.

Gianluca Guidi

My name is Gianluca and I am from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, a small town in Tuscany.
I graduated in Economics at University of Pisa and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna. During my 2-year MSc, I had the chance to develop my research skills. Firstly, as a research intern at ISTAT, afterward as a teaching assistant in Microeconomics, and finally as a research analyst for a boutique investment manager. Valeria Guttilla

I graduated in business and economics, and I hold a second-level master degree obtained in different European universities. I had experiences in various parts of the world and after working for a multinational company, I also founded my own, where I discovered the world of data and its importance, deciding to further specialise in the field. Why do I believe I have the right skills for a data scientist? Besides the needed specific competences, which I’m acquiring with this master, some more are of uttermost importance. I’m precise and detail-oriented, I’m trained in thinking outside the box, always on the lookout for hidden patterns, which I then try to reconnect to the big-picture. I enjoy working in teams, I have always had, even with international ones, but I’m also good in solitary work, as I had to do with my company. I’m extremely motivated and ready to work hard.

Maria Iacono

After my Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures, fascinated by the world of Computational Linguistics, I enrolled in a course in "Language Technologies" at the Master's Degree program in Digital Humanities in Pisa. Thanks to the studies I attended, I was able to develop multidisciplinary skills, acquiring on the one hand a background in the humanities, and on the other hand knowledge of computer tools relevant to the processing of linguistic and other data. For the past three years, I have worked in an Artificial Intelligence startup as a Data Manager, an experience that introduced me to the fascinating world of data. Driven by curiosity to develop greater skills in the field of Data Science, I decided to enroll in the Master in Big Data Analytics & Social Mining.

Francesco Innocenti

Francesco Innocenti, great central midfielder, he graduated in Statistical Sciences in 2003. In the same year he began working as researcher at the Regional Agency for Public Health of Tuscany.
Deals with issues related to the epidemiology, from lifestyles, mainly driving and traffic accidents, to the emergency-urgency, revealing a passion for analyzing large database. From 2009 to 2012 he was consultant at “Health search” where he worked on some European projects regarding drugs studies.

Angela Italiano

Angela Italiano has carried out her first university studies in "Computer Science" at the University of Pisa (2009). After an internship at CapGemini S.p.A. se has pursued her studies at the "Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna" and University of Pisa with a master degree in "Computer Science and Networking" ( 2012). She is currently working  ENEL Engineering and Research Department , She joined in Enel in 2014.Before Enel she worked as researcher in the National Council of Researcher on projects ranging from design and development of Web Application, design, management and development of Web Service in a grid computing infrastructure . In Enel, she has worked as data scientist and IT specialist  in the areas of power generation. Davide Jacch

Born in Palermo in 1986, graduated in Rome in Law. His work in different environments of law firms and business companies leads him to use storage and process systems of information. He then decided to strenghten such acquired familiarity, expanding it in the field of Big Data Analytics.
